Ashlee Page talks about Filmmaking at AIE

Ashlee Page has over 15 years’ experience in the Australian film industry. Working primarily as a writer and director, she has experience directing TVC’s and drama. Ashlee’s credits include a chapter in the feature film Tim Winton’s The Turning and a multi-award-winning adaptation of Peter Goldsworthy’s The Kiss, for which she won two AFI Awards, the Sydney Film Festival Dendy Award for Best Short and the 2010 Melbourne International Film Festival Award for Emerging Australian Filmmaker. Ashlee is also a Sundance Institute screenwriting fellow and recipient of a Sundance Institute global filmmaking award.

Prior to teaching filmmaking at AIE, Ashlee was Course Director at MAPS Film School. AIE acquired the MAPS Film School at the end of 2021. Ashlee described MAPS becoming part of AIE as “mind-blowingly exciting”. Ashlee believes that MAPS’ teachers, who have worked across many Australian film projects, combined with AIE’s new technology, will push students to create content never seen before.

“I am the type of person who loves what I do, and I won’t get out of bed for something I don’t…. I make content that I love and am passionate about”. She also encouraged students to get out there and have new experiences and memories saying, “To become a writer or creator, you need to see the world and understand it” said Ashlee.
