Livestream Description

Join the AIE team as and a special guest speaker, as we explore what it takes to shift from a student mindset to a business mindset when creating an indie studio. We will be speaking with Aiden Gyory, Founder and Creative Director of Catalyst Games, and Simon Slee, Regional Vice President for Xsolla, a global video game commerce company known for supporting indie studios.

Students are usually in a highly structured environment with a lot of support; the goals are made clear; the challenges are simple or complicated and we can rely on authority and expertise to keep us safe and comfortable.

However the business mindset requires much more independence, resilience, fortitude, and very different skills around finance, vision, marketing, and evidence-based decision making. Changing between these mindsets can be challenging because it requires relinquishing a lot of what has worked for us in the past. Speakers in this livestream have extensive experience in business and the games industry and will speak from this experience as well as answer questions from the audience.
