Job Trainer Level up your skills for free!
Looking to change your career or try something new? JobTrainer is one of the ways the ACT Government are supporting job seekers and the economy during COVID-19. It offers young people (aged 17-24) and job seekers across Canberra the opportunity to try something new through vocational education and training. To be eligible you will need to be an Australian citizen living/working in Canberra (for more eligibility requirements, see our website).

What can you study at AIE with Job Trainer?
Not sure of what you want to do yet? With JobTrainer funding, you can study AIE’s Certificate II in Information, Digital Media, and Technology (ICT20115). This course is our Game Programming Foundations. It is a great stepping stone into programming, and an introduction into the many career opportunities available for programmers in games and the creative industries. We teach students how to program using Unreal Engine, utilising its node-based programming script called blueprints. Through this course you will learn the necessary skills to create a range of fun and playable games. You will also work on a group project where you make your own game!
Ready to start your career? JobTrainer can fund the CUA51015 Diploma of Screen and Media, which will be included in AIE’s 2021 Advanced Diploma courses. These courses allow you to start your career in art, design or programming. JobTrainer funding will cover the fee costs for the Diploma of Screen and Media, reducing the total amount of fees. The Advanced Diploma will lead you into the career you want as you can choose to study:
- 3D Animation & VFX For Film
- Game Art & Animation
- Game Design & Production
- Game Programming

Another JobTrainer funded course is our Foundation Skills for Work. The course is a great pathway to further vocational training, traineeships and employment. This 12-month, part-time course, can help develop your language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.
