The AIE Canberra campus is located in Watson, a leafy suburb just to the north of the city centre.  AIE Canberra, the first AIE campus, was established in 1996 in response to a demand for 3D games artists and programmers. Our industry experienced teachers have guided students through our courses to employment at every major games and 3D animation studio in Australia as well as a number of internationally renowned companies.

Canberra is home to some of the world’s most acclaimed and innovative developers, many of whom are co-located with AIE in Canberra Technology Park in Game Plus, Australia’s largest non-profit co-working space for game developers. AIE games graduates are in demand from a wide array of related industries including defense, simulation, visualisation, advertising and software development.

The film industry in Canberra is vibrant and growing. Film Plus, also co-located with AIE in Canberra Technology Park, provides a hub for film production professionals to co-locate, share resources, facilities, knowledge and opportunities. It's also a focal point for government and industry to access a range of specialist expertise in production, visual effects and post-production, attracting projects from across Australia and beyond.

Work is underway on AIE's film studio complex which will allow AIE to continue to produce large budget theatrical feature films and TV series that utilise a LED volume stage. AIE is exploring opportunities to launch a supportive film investment initiative that will help Australian film producers and directors of sci-fi, fantasy and other genres to produce their films and television series. This initiative will provide AIE students and graduates fantastic opportunities as well help Australian producers and directors to tell their unique stories  to grow the Australian film and television industry.
