ACT Skilled Capital Funding information

WHAT IS SKILLED CAPITAL FUNDING?

AIE Canberra and AIE Online Campuses are approved to provide training services to eligible students that are living or working in the ACT. The ACT Skilled Capital Initiative is funded by the ACT Government.

Skilled Capital is an ACT Government training initiative, funded by the ACT and Australian Governments.

AM I ELIGIBLE?

You are eligible for a government subsidised place if you are:

  • an Australian citizen; or
  • an Australian permanent resident; or
  • New Zealand passport holder resident for more than 6 months; or
  • an eligible visa holder

and

  • living or working in the ACT
  • at least 15 years of age
  • not enrolled in or attending secondary school or college except where the student:
    • is undertaking a course of study leading to completion of year 12 in an alternative program, or
    • has an Exemption Certificate and the selected Skilled Capital qualification is an approved Australian School-based Apprenticeship pathway.

and

  • your training provider has deemed the course as suitable for you
  • you have not completed this qualification within the last 7 years
  • you are not accessing Skilled Capital for any other qualifications at the same time

Please Note:  This indicator is to be used as a guide only.  It does not guarantee you a government-subsidised place with the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE).  AIE will determine your eligibility by conducting a full assessment of your eligibility during your enrolment process.

 

HOW DO I APPLY?

The application for Skilled Capital Funding is completed upon your enrolment. You do not need to apply for the funding by yourself.

You will be asked to complete the following documents to confirm your eligibility and suitability for Skilled Capital Funding:

  • Skilled Capital Application Form
  • Initial Skills Assessment
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy Test

You will need to provide AIE the following supporting documentation:

Citizenship and Permanent Residency

Please provide ONE of the following documents:

  • Australian birth certificate
  • Australian Permanent Resident visa
  • Nationalisation Certificate
  • Green Medicare Card
  • NewStart Card
  • Eligible visa

Note: Residency status for New Zealand passport holders must be longer than 6 months

ACT Residency or Employment:

Please provide ONE of the following documents:

  • Current ACT drivers licence
  • Health Care Card
  • Pension Card
  • ACT Proof of Age Card
  • Utilities account bill issued within the last three months
  • Contract of purchase, lease or rental agreement
  • ACT Government endorsed identification
  • A letter, email or payslip from an ACT employer showing the street address where the student is working in the ACT
