Canberra Campus

The AIE Canberra campus is located in Watson, a leafy suburb just to the north of the city centre.  AIE Canberra, the first AIE campus, was established in 1996 in response to a demand for 3D games artists and programmers. Our industry experienced teachers have guided students through our courses to employment at every major games and 3D animation studio in Australia as well as a number of internationally renowned companies.

Canberra is home to some of the world’s most acclaimed and innovative developers of games, simulation and visualization software along with cutting-edge production studios. We have close links with Uppercut Games Studios and are co-sited with Dreamgate Studios.

Our partnership with the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) in the Bachelor of Games and Virtual Worlds Degree course enables students to access a range of resources including extensive libraries, student accommodation and other support services.

As Canberra is the bush capital of Australia; space and tranquil scenery are just some of the benefits students can enjoy when moving to the ACT. Being a smaller city, traveling around Canberra is hassle-free and convenient. This can also be said for finding accommodation. Accommodation can be easily-sourced close to the AIE Canberra campus which is also conveniently close to the CBD.

There are a variety of other educational institutions located in Canberra, which means there is a large amount of student accommodation that can be secured, such as Unilodge

Students might also like to consider the following websites when finding share accommodation or rental accommodation including:

(We don’t endorse any particular product and acknowledge that there are probably some other very valid options we have not listed here). We are also happy to pin notices up on our internal notice boards as our students may have rooms to rent in their places or might also be looking for accommodation at the same time.

AIE’s Student Liaison Officers are also on hand to provide guidance in the area if required
