Game Degrees at AIE Institute
The Academy of Interactive Entertainment Ltd (AIE) has launched AIE Institute, an industry-leading higher education provider for Australia’s future game designers, developers, and programmers.
AIE Institute is offering a Bachelor of Game Development with three majors in gaming art, design, and programming. The first intake of students will be welcomed in February 2023, with campuses in Sydney and Canberra.
The institute’s Bachelor of Game Development is the first in Australia to integrate three core game development sub-disciplines of game art, game design, and game programming within a multi-disciplinary environment.
Articulation Arrangement
Graduates from AIE’s Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development 11151NAT are able to articulate into the Bachelor of Game Development at AIE Institute and continue into their chosen specialist area of game art, game programming or game design in the Bachelor of Game Development.
The Articulation Arrangement between AIE and AIE Institute is a formal mechanism that provides AIE Graduates with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for recognition of prior learning in accordance with the AIE Institute’s Credit and RPL Policy and Procedure. The articulation pathway from AIE’s Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development to AIE Institute’s Bachelor of Game Development means that students would complete another three more semesters, or another 18 months of study to complete their degree.

The institute’s Bachelor of Game Development is the first in Australia to integrate three core game development sub-disciplines of game art, game design, and game programming within a multi-disciplinary environment.
AIE Institute’s bachelor courses have a strong technical, practical and career focus, delivered by highly qualified and industry-experienced academic staff in a fun and creatively demanding studio environment. A third of the program is spent working in teams on projects and assessments with practical outcomes.
AIE Institute
AIE Institute was established by the Academy of Interactive Entertainment Ltd (AIE) in 2018 as a wholly owned subsidiary. Founded in 1996, AIE was the first non-profit vocational school in the world to offer specialist courses in digital games and animation. In 2018, AIE appointed a board with independent members to establish AIE Institute as a non-profit organisation, focused on the growth of the higher education creative digital sector. AIE Institute will leverage the pioneering work of AIE in the development of specialist game qualifications, and continue to innovate through industry partnerships, job creation initiatives, scholarly activities and dynamic teaching.
