| IT Manager / Certificate IV Programming Tutor – Geoff Machell
Geoff’s fascination with programming began in primary school when he obtained his first computer, a TRS-80 featuring a whopping 4KB of memory! With the extreme limitations of memory and processing capacity, Geoff wrote all of his programs using either Assembler or directly using the 6809 machine code. With a small toolkit, lean, efficient code was everything and within a few years he was writing clones of arcade games, such as Space Invaders, Pengo and Moon-patrol etc. Geoff went on to join the corporate world and founded a freelance software development business which he has managed in various forms over the past 15 years. Some of Geoff’s projects have included: developing hardware and software interfaces to operate high-powered laser marking systems, high speed display drivers for gaming machines, and scientific applications for monitoring the decay of radioactive isotopes. |
