AIE’s preferred provider is Australian Health Management (AHM). Please refer to the following website for further information on costs, terms and conditions: Australian Health Management.

Students Under 18

Canberra
Students under the age of 18 arriving in Australia and intending to study at AIE Canberra must have a guardian living in Canberra. Guardians must be at least 21 years of age, be a relative*, and have permission to reside in Australia until the student turns 18 or their visa expires.

Students who choose not to live with their guardian are required to be placed in Homestay accommodation. Students who do not have a guardian living in Canberra will be placed in Homestay accommodation with the Homestay host/s acting as the guardian. In this situation, there may be a small fee payable to the guardian for this service.

*Department of Immigration and Citizenship defines a ‘relative’ as being:

  • A spouse of the person;
  • A parent, brother, sister, child or adopted child of the person;

  • A grandparent, grandchild, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew;

  • The definition excludes a cousin as a relative.
