High detail Creature Creation: Sculpting with Mudbox
This course is the perfect introduction to this digital sculpting tool. Mudbox is widely used throughout the various CG industries, much more intuitive than zBrush and is a great tool to complement existing 3D skills. Students will learn how to integrate Mudbox into their modelling workflow and begin to produce work of the high standard currently demanded by the visual effects and games industries.

Zombie Film Making: Bring the Dead to Life!
Calling all Filmmakers, Zombie Fans and Various Living Dead! Have you ever wanted to make Zombie Madness? In this introductory film class you will be introduced to the grand tradition of Zombie filmmaking and learn how to script, direct, shoot, and edit your very own Zombie film. At the end of the course all films will be screened in a night of true zombie madness!

Visual Effects for Film: Certificate III in Screen
The Certificate III in Screen (Visual FX for Film) is a nationally accredited course designed to introduce students to techniques in digital composition and film post production effects using Discreet Combustion software. The course teaches students fundamental skills in foreground/background composition, compositing in a 3D workspace, render passes, special effects (fog, rain and blur), motion tracking, stabilising film footage, colour correction, greenscreen editing techniques and particle systems such as fire, rain, smoke and explosions.

Game Level Design: Making Entertaining Environments
This course is designed to help the student develop technical skills, focusing in particular on designing and building computer game levels. Students will create the playing environments where the action of the game takes place, and they create and place objects and events the player might encounter. The game engine used in this course is Unreal Tournament 3, one of the most popular platforms used in PC, Xbox360 and PS3 game development.

Get up to speed with Maya: Intensive Training for 3D Artists
AIE is pleased to offer a unique experience to build foundation skills in using with Autodesk Maya, the 3D modelling and animation package predominantly used in creating visual effects for movies. This course is designed to give users of other 3D software an introduction to this very versatile program. You will be doing exercises in polygon and subdivision surface modelling, UV mapping, lighting, rigging and animation, ultimately finishing off with rendering and compositing. At the end of the short course you will be familiar with workspace/viewport navigation in Maya and you will have developed an appreciation for components unique to Maya. This course is suited to industry professionals or current 3D Animation students.

MEL Scripting in Maya
MEL is the powerful scripting language under the hood of Maya. The outcome for this course is to give the participants a solid grounding in Maya Embedded Language (MEL) to assist them in speeding up, streamlining and automating their workflows. The course covers core aspects of Mel scripting and programming from simple scripts for animation and quickly working in maya, right through to programming Graphical User Interfaces (GUI), automating repetitive tasks and communicating with and controlling the operating system.

Rendering for Realism: Using Maxwell Render for photo-realism
This course teaches participants how to use to create photo-realistic renders. Maxwell Render is does a great job of simulating light exactly as in the real world by complex light interactions. This course is suitable for professionals and 3d artists with skills in a range of 3d packages, however the packages used in the course for use in the Maxwell Render engine will be 3D Studio Max and Maya.
