Industry connections
AIE Canberra fosters strong connections with the local game development houses and 3D animation studios, giving our students ‘real’ pathways into the games and 3D industries. AIE provides students with the opportunity to talk to industry professionals through guest lectures, seminars and industry open days; providing opportunities for learning, networking and showcasing of student portfolios to potential employers.
AIE also maintains close links with government departments who are also beginning to utilise emerging 3D content for a variety of purposes, including simulation, sports science, education, mapping, town planning, engineering and web design. Departments such as Australian Federal Police, Australian Defence Force, GeoScience Australia, CSIRO and Australian Institute of Sport are all within a close radius of AIE.
Much of the course work is designed to provide students with a learning environment that emulates industry type experience. While detailed instruction is provided, problem solving is encouraged as this is what students will face when working in the industry.
AIE Canberra graduates can be found at many international and Australian games and film production houses, and have worked on some of the latest projects in the industry, such as Irrational Games upcoming title Bioshock, Matrix:Reloaded by Animal Logic, Perceptions Destroy All Humans and the upcoming Quake Wars: Enemy Territory, by UK developer Splash Damage.
